111 Operators To Assess Callers For Ebola

The Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt has announced a new measure to target those potentially infected with Ebola.

Operators on the NHS non-emergency 111 number will aim to assess anyone calling in with potential symptoms of the disease, by questioning them about their recent travel history.

He added that any paramedics dispatched to any of the numbers that show possible risk, would be sent out with appropriate protective equipment.

Screening for travellers arriving in the UK from affected areas is also due to get underway next week.

Mr Hunt has said that it is now "more likely than not" that Ebola would reach the UK.
