Burmese Worker Confesses To Killing Two British Backpackers
A Burmese worker has confessed to killing two British backpackers on a Thai beach, according to police.
Hannah Witheridge, 23, from Great Yarmouth, and David Miller, 24, from Jersey, were killed on Sairee beach on 15th September.
Post-mortem examinations showed Hannah died from severe head wounds, and David died from drowning and blows to the head.
A blood stained garden hoe which was found nearby is believed to have been the murder weapon.
Deputy national police chief Lieutenant General Jaktip Chaijinda said a man had confessed to the murders after three Burmese workers on the island of Koh Tao were detained for DNA testing.
The man who confessed to the murder has not yet been formerly arrested.

An asylum seeker convicted of stabbing a policeman to death has been jailed for life. Nigerian Ikechukwu Tennyson Obih, 29, stabbed Bedfordshire policeman Jon Henry twice in the chest in Luton on June 11, 2007 as he tried to arrest him. He was told he must serve at least 25 years.

Man Charged In Scrapyard Double Killing
A man has been charged with murder following the discovery of the bodies of an elderly couple at a scrapyard in Staffordshire at the weekend. Richard John Barlow, 29, was charged with the murders of George Barlow, 77, and his wife Joyce, 65, on Sunday. The bodies were discovered in the scrapyard in Uttoxeter.

Man Cleared Of Killing Police Officer
A man, accused of killing police officer Keith Blakelock in 1985, has been cleared of the charge. Nicholas Jacobs, 45, had previously denied killing Mr Blakelock. Blakelock was stabbed 43 times at Broadwater Farm, Tottenham, during riots that happened in north London.
