Army Bomb Disposal Team Called To South Wales HMRC Office

South Wales Police have confirmed that a controlled explosion has been carried out at a HMRC Revenue and Customs office in Cardiff.

It is understood that around 2,500 employees were evacuated on Thursday morning at HM Revenue and Customs at Ty Glas in Llanishen.

It is not clear what sparked the incident.

A number of the roads in the area were closed during the incident but were reopened a short time later.

Taxpayers are being urged to be vigilant following reports that thieves are making phone calls pretending to be the taxman. The fraudsters inform taxpayers they are due a tax rebate, and ask for their bankcard details over the phone. They then attempt to take money from the account using the details provided.
