Ashya King To Receive Treatment In Prague

Ashya King has been discharged from a hospital in Spain and is on his way to Pragur to receive proton treatment on his brain tumour.

His parents Brett and Naghemeh and Ashya, 5, travelled to Malaga Airport and are flying by air ambulance to Prague.

He will be admitted to The Proton Therapy Centre as soon as he arrives in Prague, and an expert panel of physicians discussed transportation details earlier.

Proton therapy is a highly precise method of radiotherapy, mainly due to the physical properties of protons themselves, as well as to the specific way proton doses are distributed within tissues, according to The Proton Therapy Centre. The utilisation of this method results in high local control over tumors, a lower probability of damage to surrounding healthy tissues, a low risk of complications and a higher chance of rapid recovery following treatment.
