PHE Launch Investigation Into Salmonella Outbreak

An investigation has been launched into a Salmonella outbreak that had affected almost 156 people in England.

Public Health England (PHE) is leading the investigation and say that the illness, often linked to poultry or eggs, have been traced to a single source.

PHE say that 156 people have been affected in Hampshire, London, Cheshire and the West Midlands.

Dr Paul Cleary, a consultant epidemiologist who is leading the investigation said that they are making good progress and that they "hope to have move conclusive evidence shortly."

'A sad day for Britain' - Blair

Mr Blair returned to Downing Street from the G8 summit in Gleneagles, for a meeting with the government's emergency committee, following the explosions which took place in the capital on Thursday morning.

‘At least 50 dead’ in London attacks
Metropolitan Police commissioner Sir Ian Blair has said that the final death toll for the London terror attacks will be “at least 50”, including thirteen people killed in the bus explosion in Tavistock Square.

Terror attack victims remain in hospital
A number of people injured in Thursday’s terror attack in London have remained in hospital. Around 700 people were injured in the explosions with over 300 casualties taken to hospital by ambulance. There were also reports that double-decker buses were used to transport other victims of the blasts to hospital.

Bus passenger may have seen ‘suicide bomber’
A passenger on board the bus which was blown up in London’s Tavistock Square on Thursday, has said he may have seen the terrorist who carried out the attack. Richard Jones, 61, told ‘The Sun’ newspaper that he had been on the Number 30 bus, travelling from Hackney to Marble Arch, when he saw a man continuously fiddling with something in a bag.

Terrorists 'will fail', says Livingstone
The Mayor of London Ken Livingstone has issued a statement following the terror attacks in London, which have claimed at least 33 lives. Mr Livingstone said: "This was a cowardly attack, which has resulted in injury and loss of life. Our thoughts are with everyone who has been injured, or lost loved ones.
