Devon Country Park Closed After Suspected Norovirus Outbreak

A suspected norovirus outbreak has closed a country park in Devon.

It is understood that some 91 cases of sickness have been reported since Friday at the River Dart Country Park in Ashburton in Devon.

The park's website states that it will be closed until 18 August to "enable further investigations".

Some 600 people are understood have been staying at the park when it was closed over the weekend.

A number of people whose holiday's at the park have been cut short, or cancelled altogether, have been calling on the park's management for compensation.

Alton Towers Remains Closed Following Accident
Alton Towers remains closed today, 3 June, following an incident on one of its attractions on Tuesday. At around 2pm yesterday, two carriages crashed on a low section of track on the theme park's The Smiler rollercoaster. Sixteen passengers were on the ride at the time, some of which were trapped for four-and-a-half hours.

Boys Held Over Fawn's Death
Three boys have been arrested in relation to the apparent brutal killing of a newborn deer in a country park in Dorset. Three teenagers were seen to pick up the fawn, throw it to the ground and take turns to stamp on it in Upton Country Park. Dorset Police arrested two 17-year-olds and a 15-year-old all from Poole.

Two teenagers are due to appear in court charged with the murder of a man in Henley. Stephen Langford, 43, died after being attacked in the street in Henley in the early hours of Saturday morning.

FMD Restrictions Eased Outside England
Restrictions on the movement of animals following the latest outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in England have been eased in Scotland and Wales. The restrictions have been eased in order to allow farmers to transport livestock for slaughter, but they still remain unable to move animals for any other reasons.
