RAF Drop Third Round Of Aid Into Iraq

A third round of aid drops have been successfully completed by the RAF in northern Iraq.

Aid is being dropped to assist thousands of people fleeing Islamist militants.

Clean water and shelters have been dropped on Mount Sinjar in northern Iraq.

A previous air drop was abandoned at the last minute by the pilot over concerns that dropping the cargo would injury large groups of people who had gathered at the drop site. The aborted drop was successfully completed the following day.

RAF Tornado jets left the UK yesterday for Iraq and will be used to carry out surveillance operations and support aid drops.
