Foreign Minister Mark Simmonds Resigns

Downing Street has announced that Foreign Minister Mark Simmonds has resigned from the government.

It is understood that Mr Simmonds will also resign his position as MP for Boston and Skegness at next years general election.

James Duddridge will replace Mr Simmondsas minister for Africe.

Mr Simmonds is the second person to resign from the government in the past week, but Downing Street has said that Mr Simmonds made his decision to leave "weeks ago" and it is not connected to Gaza, which was the reason cited by Baroness Warsi when she stepped down.

David Cameron has official begin his campaign for re-election. Speaking outside Downing Street, Mr Cameron, said that the job of "turning the country around" had been started and that he wanted to "see the job through". He called on voters to keep him in power to "safeguard the recovery and provide strong leadership".

More Schedule During World Cup
David Cameron has inquired for a rethink regarding the schedule of pubs during the World Cup, after ministers decided to rule out extending the opening hours for the English matches. The Home Office rejected a bid to extend the serving times during two weekends pending the tournament in Brazil this summer.
