Govt Considering Crossrail Extension To Hertfordshire

The UK Government is considering a proposed Crossrail extension to Hertfordshire, Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin has announced.

It has been claimed that extending the service reduces journey times between London and parts of Hertfordshire by up to 16 minutes.

Announcing the proposal, Mr McLoughlin said that the extension would provide many benefits, such as easing the pressure on the Tube's busiest sections; reducing journey times between London and parts of Hertfordshire by up to 16 minutes, and making it easier to upgrade Euston station.

Under proposals for the HS2 high-speed rail project, Euston would be upgraded with 11 new platforms.
