UK Economy Returns To Pre-Crisis Level
The UK economy has expanded by 0.8% in the second quarter of the year and returned to its pre-crisis peak.
Britain's economy is now bigger than it was before, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
The figure today is only an estimate and subject to revision.
Annually, growth was 3% higher than was measured at the same time last year, and the total output was 0.2% higher than the first quarter of 2008.
Chancellor George Osborne tweeted: "We owe it to hardworking taxpayers not to repeat the mistakes of the past.
"Economy bigger than previous peak in 2008 but long way to go - the Great Recession was one of deepest of any major economy & cost UK 6 years."

The UK's economy grew by 0.9% in the second quarter of 2014, newly-released figures have revealed. According to the Office for National Statistics (ONS), UK GDP was also 3.2% higher in the second quarter, compared to a year earlier.

House Prices Drop By 14.7%
House prices in the UK have fallen by a staggering 14.7% according to the Nationwide. Nationwide said prices fell by another 2.5% in December taking the average house price down to £153,048. The company said that prices have now fallen for 14 months and they are 18% lower than their peak in October 2007.

UK Economy Grew In Q3
The UK economy grew by 0.8% in the third quarter of 2013, according to the Office for National Statistics. GDP has now risen by 1.8% during the latest three quarters, indicating conditions similar to the expansion between Q3 2009 and Q2 2010 as the UK began to recover from the economic downturn.

UK Economy Will Pick Up In 2012, Says CBI
The UK economy will see growth resume in the second half of 2012, with faster GDP growth during 2013, according to the latest quarterly CBI economic forecast. The CBI expects GDP growth in 2012 will be 0.6%, slightly down from its forecast in February of 0.9%. This is a direct consequence of the preliminary ONS figure for quarter one.

BA in black after last year's £200m losses
Results posted today have revealed that British Airways has turned around its £200 million loss last year to show huge plus figures following a rationalisation programme. BA recorded a pre-tax profit of £135 million for the full year to March 31 2003, with operating profit topping £295 million – including an £84 million write down on Concorde.
