Data Laws Legislation Voted Through By MPs
Emergency legislation to allow security services to continue to access people's phones and internet records have been voted through by MPs.
The Data Retention and Investigatory Powers Bill has been rushed through following a European Court of Justice ruling in April.
The Bill is expected to complete its pass through the lower chamber on Tuesday.
Civil liberties groups and some MPs have criticised the Bill and how quickly it has been sent through Parliament.
The Bill will today move to the House of Lords.

Gay rights activists have a cause for celebration following the backing in the Commons of a Bill to introduce marriage equality for gay couples in England and Wales. Prime Minister David Cameron called the move "an important step forward" and Labour leader Ed Miliband said it was a "proud day".

Government Lay Out Plans For Internet Monitoring
New government plans to monitor internet usage have been laid out. These will include details of internet use in the UK being stored for a year to allow police and intelligence services to access it. Records will include people's activity on social network sites, webmail, internet phone calls and online gaming.

Government Publishes Legislation On Gay Marriage
New legislation that will enable same-sex marriages to take place in England and Wales has been published. The legislation will be debated in the Commons on Tuesday 5 February, Conservatives MPs will get a free vote on the legislation meaning they will face no repercussions if they decide to defy government policy.

MPs Pass Plain Packaging Legislation
From May next year cigarette packaging will be standardised in England after MPs voted in favour of the new legislation. Under the new law, which has still to be approved by the House of Lords, all cigarette brands will come in the same packaging, featuring a brand and variety name, alongside health warnings and graphic pictures.
