D&V Bug Outbreak At Athletes Village
A sickness bug, causing diarrhoea and vomiting, has struck the Athletes Village in Glasgow, just one week ahead of the Commonwealth Games.
According to reports a "small number" of cases have been recorded amongst workers at the Dalmarnock site. Glasgow 2014 are understood to be investigating the outbreak.
Athletes at the village reporting symptoms have been advised to stay in their rooms and contact officials for help.
It is understood that an advisory note has been sent to workers and residents in the village warning of the potential for the sickness outbreak to be "highly contagious".

Source Of Athletes Village Bug Identified
The source of a suspected norovirus outbreak at the Commonwealth Games athletes village has been identified as a temporary facility used for security. Scotland's First Minister Alex Salmond confirmed that the source had been found, the area cleared, cleaned and measures taken to contain the problem.

Police have confirmed that an Australian weightlifter was arrested on Wednesday morning in connection with an assault on another athlete. On Wednesday it was reported that a man had been detained following an incident at the Athletes Village.

Security Provider Appointed For 2014 Games
Selex EX, an Italian-owned electronics and IT firm, has been chosen to provide security measures for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. The firm, which is part of the Finmeccanica industrial group, has been appointed Official Protective Perimeter Security Provider for the event.
