Up To 13,000 Homes Without Power
Around 13,000 homes in Llanelli are without power, Western Power Distribution (WPD) has reported.
The company has said that the cause of the power outage is not yet known but engineers are working on having it restored as soon as possible.
WPD said that the number of people without power is fluctuating as electricity is restored and re-routed to the properties in Carmarthenshire.
School Reverses Ramadan Decision
Following a number of complaints, a school in east London has reversed a decision to make children taking part in Ramadan to go home during lunchtimes.
Newport Primary School had decided that pupils taking part in religious fasting should go home for a rest during lunchtimes, saying that it had "no provisions" to properly look after the children.
The school had written to parents asking that the children be collected by an adult and taken home.
However, following complaints from some parents the school has reversed its decision and will now keep the children at the school.
New Scottish Web Domain Launched
A new .scot web domain has been launched.
Around 50 websites are expected to launch today using the new internet domain for Scotland, including the Scottish government, WWF Scotland, NHS Scotland and Scouts Scotland and referendum campaigners Yes Scotland.
.scot is one of a number of new top-level domains that are becoming available this year, such as .wales, .london, .berlin and .NYC.

Following an investigation lasting more than two years, the OFT found that pupils’ parents ended up paying higher fees as a result of the information-sharing.

P1-3 pupils across Scotland are to receive free school meals, the Scottish Government has announced. First Minister Nicola Sturgeon welcomed the measure, which will benefit an additional 135,000 pupils across Scotland and will save families of every eligible child at least £330 a year. The Scottish Government is providing revenue funding of £70.

Legal Challenge On New Power Station
Campaigners have lodged papers at the Court of Session in Edinburgh which may halt the construction of a new power station in Ayrshire, it has been reported. Action group, Communities Opposed to New Coal at Hunterston (Conch), has appealed for a judicial review of the plans for the coal-fired power station at Hunterston.
