Broadmoor Hospital To Cut Warning Sirens

Warning sirens in some towns surrounding Broadmoor Hospital are to be scrapped in new plans revealed by the hospital's operators.

The sirens, installed some 62 years ago, warn residents of an escaped inmate, and were last used in 1993.

West London Mental Health Trust wants to cut the hospitals 13 sirens to seven.

It is thought that 13 sirens is no longer necessary due to improvements in security.

Earthquake Recorded On Channel Islands

A 4.2 magnitude earthquake has been recorded in the Channel Islands and south-west England.

The epicentre was nine miles west of Jersey, according to the Jersey Met Office. It is the largest earthquake to hit the area since 1993, according to the British Geological Survey.

Possible Identities Suggested For 'Robert'

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Trust (CPFT) have received a number of possible identities for a man in their care suffering with severe amnesia.

Robert, a name given to him by health workers, was found in a park on 18 May, with no form of identification on him, no mobile phone and no signs of physical injury.

It is understood that he cannot remember any details of his life.

The trust said people from around the UK had been in touch and information was being shared with police.

Reid gives 'green light' for £4bn PFI hospital deal

Small Earthquake Hits North Wales
A small earthquake, measuring 2.8 in magnitude has hit north Wales. The quake was reported late on Wednesday night, just before 11.30pm, the British Geological Survey (BGS) has said. The epicentre of the quake was located on the Lleyn peninsula, Gwynedd, but was felt throughout the north Gwynedd region.

MoD releases identity of British soldier killed in Basrah
One of the British soldiers killed in an ambush in southern Iraq yesterday has been named today by the MoD. Corporal Marc Taylor, 27, from Ellesmere Port in Cheshire, served with the Corps of Royal Electrical & Mechanical Engineers, and attached to 1st Regiment Royal Horse Artillery.

Yellow Warning Issued For Snow
The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for snow across parts of Wales, the Midlands and into northern England. The warning, issued this morning, is valid between 16:00 today (Tuesday) and midday on Wednesday.
