Local Authorities To Be Given Powers To Hold Motor Races
Local authorities are to be granted the power to stage motor races on public roads, the government has announced.
Following the conclusion of a public consultation the Prime Minister made the announcement during a visit to a new Williams F1 engineering centre.
The powers would allow councils to suspend speed limits and some traffic regulations.
It is understood that the success of the Tour de France influenced the decision to grant local councils the new powers.
