Third Alleged SOS Messages Found On Primark Label

Karen Wisínska, a shopper from Co Fermanagh, in Northern Ireland has became the latest Primark customer to find an SOS note hidden in clothes bought from the low-cost retailer, following the discovery of two other messages by two shoppers in Wales.

Mrs Wisinska found an SOS message in a pair of trousers she bought in the Belfast branch, allegedly from a prisoner in China, claiming to make the clothes for export under slave labour conditions.

The shopper contacted Amnesty International when she discovered a handwritten note earlier this week, which said: "We are prisoners in the Xiang Nan Prison of the Hubei Province in China. Our job inside the prison is to produce fashion clothes for export. We work 15 hours per day and the food we eat wouldn't even be given to dogs or pigs.

"We work as hard as oxen in the field. We call on the international community to condemn the Chinese government for the violation of our human rights!"

Mrs Wisinska, who bought the trousers in June 2011 but had never worn them said when she got the translation she was "in shock" and she "felt sick". "I am only sorry that I did not discover the note when I first purchased the clothing," Mrs Wisinska said.

She is not the first customer to discover a note with two other shoppers claiming to have also found SOS messages hand-stitched into labels on clothes bought from the high street retailer.
