Murdered Student Stabbed 16 Times

A university student murdered in Essex was tabbed 16 times, according to police.

Saudi Arabian national Nahid Almanea, from Woodrow way in Colchester, had been studying at the University of Essex for less than a year.

Det Ch Supt Steve Worron, of Essex Police, said: "A post-mortem was carried out on Nahid's body yesterday afternoon.

"We can now confirm that the cause of death was knife wounds.

"She suffered at least two knife wounds which would have proved fatal on their own, but in total she was stabbed 16 times to her body, neck, head and arms."

Man Charged With Cyclists Death

A man has been charged with causing the death of Bath teenage cyclist Jake Gilmore by dangerous driving.

Jake, 19, was killed when his bike collided with a car on Midland Bridge on the evening of November 16, 2013.

The driver, 53-year-old Raymond Isherwood, of Bennett Stree, Bath has been charged with: Causing death by dangerous driving; Failing to stop after an accident; Production of cannabis; Perverting the course of justice and Failure to surrender to police bail on 30th April.

Isherwood was arrested in Swansea and appeared at Bristol magistrates court on 6th May. He later appeared at Bristol Crown Court and has been remanded in custody pending a trial date.

Two Arrested In Connection With Liverpool Burglary

Two people have been arrested in connection with an incident in the Kirkby area in the early hours of Wednesday morning, according to police.

Officers were called to a house on Newick Road at about 1.30am following a report that two men forced entry to the house, assaulted the homeowner, and made off with jewellery. The 65-year-old victim was taken to hospital as a pre-caution and she has since been released.

Neighbourhood patrols and detectives carried out a search of the area and house-to-house enquiries were also conducted.

As a result of extensive enquiries officers executed a number of search warrants. A 57-year-old man from the Kirkby area was arrested on suspicion of robbery and a 44-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery.

Both are being detained for questioning.

An investigation into the full circumstances of the incident is continuing and CCTV from the area is being located and reviewed. Patrols have also been stepped up to reassure the local community.

Two men have been arrested in connection with the death of a 16-year-old boy, after allegedly taking ecstasy. Daniel Spargo-Mabbs died in hospital on Monday after being admitted in the early hours of Saturday. He had fallen unconscious at a rave being held in Hayes, west London.

Teen arrested over Newcastle stabbing death
A 16-year-old youth has been arrested on suspicion of murder after another teenager was stabbed to death in Newcastle. The body of the boy, also believed to be 16, was found around 2am on Tuesday morning in the Hallow Drive area of Throckley. Northumbria Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Police in London have arrested a 16-year-old in connection with the stabbing of man whose car collided with a bus. On Friday, 22-year-old Babafemi Junaid was found to have been stabbed after his car collided with a bus near Stockwell Tube station in south London.

Third arrest over Sunderland stabbing
A third teenager has been arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of a young father outside his home in Sunderland. Kevin Johnson, 22, was stabbed outside his home in Partick Road in the city, in the early hours of Saturday morning. Two teenage boys, aged 16 and 17, were arrested on Saturday, while an 18-year-old man was arrested on Sunday.
