Two Men In Court After Teenager Dies In Collision

A further two men have appeared at Coventry Magistrates Court in connection with a collision where a teenager tragically lost her life.

Lucy Commins, 16, was a passenger in a Mercedes CLK that collided with a Volkswagon Golf at the junction of Hinckley Road and Woodway Lane at around 11.25pm on Saturday 22 February. Lucy died at the scene.

Ross Clark, 37, from Kaysland Park in Kent, was charged with causing death by careless driving and failing to provide a specimen for analysis. He was bailed to appear before Crown Court.

And Sean Sparkes, 32, was bailed following his court appearance after being charged with causing death by dangerous driving, causing serious injury by dangerous driving and perverting the course of justice.

Reece Jones, 23 from Attoxhall Road in Coventry, was remanded in custody after appearing in court at an earlier hearing on 3 May charged with causing death by dangerous driving, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop or report a collision and other driving offences.

Marc Donaldson, 40 from Rigdale Close, Coventry, also appeared before magistrates at the beginning of May charged with perverting the course of justice and was bailed to appear at Crown Court.

All four men will appear at Coventry Crown Court on 8 August.

Footballer In Court Over Death Crash

Abu Hamza remanded in custody
The radical Muslim cleric Abu Hamza al-Masri has been remanded in custody at Bow Street Magistrates Court today. Abu Hamza, who faces a total of nine charges, appeared by videolink from Belmarsh prison. He was remanded in prison until July 23. The 46-year-old was arrested on May 27 on an extradition warrant served by the US government.

Football legend George Best has been banned from driving for 20 months after pleading guilty to a charge of drink driving. Best, 57, appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates' court this morning following his arrest in Merton, south west London, shortly after midnight on Friday.
