17 UK Men Arrested In Worldwide Operation On Computer Crime

A worldwide crackdown on computer crime has lead to the arrest of seventeen men in the UK.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation led a co-ordinated operation to tackle the use of software capable of remotely controlling computers and webcams called Blackshades.

15 men were arrested in England and 2 in Scotland, along side arrests made by other agencies in the US, France and Germany.

It is understood that the software would gain control of people's computers when they clicked on links supposedly leading to pictures or videos while using some social media sites and communications platforms.

The UK's National Crime Agency say it believes that up to 200,000 usernames and passwords have been collected by people using Blackshades in the UK.
