Police Chief Constable Suspended Over 'Serious Allegations'
The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) has launched an independent investigation in to the Chief Constable of Avon and Somerset Police Nick Gargan.
The investigation follows a referral from the Police and Crime Commissioner for Avon and Somerset following a number of serious allegations that relate to inappropriate conduct towards female members of staff at the force.
Mr Gargan remains suspended.
The Chief Constable has been a serving police officer from 1988. He was also the chief executive of the National Policing Improvement Agency.
Mr Gargan's deputy, John Long, will take over his position on a temporary basis.

UK sends policing advisors to assist in Iraq
Policing experts are traveling to Iraq today to advise on the stabilisation of the security situation and to participate in a review on how to rebuild the Iraqi police service. The team of four will be led by Chief Constable of Hampshire - and Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) international portfolio holder - Paul Kernaghan.

Pensioner Attacked By Police Dog Dies
A 73-year-old woman has died after being attacked by a police dog as her home was being searched in Middlesborough. Irene Collins was bitten by the dog last Wednesday and passed away in James Cook University Hospital over the weekend. The police dog has been withdrawn from operational policing activities.

West Yorkshire Police have confirmed that they are searching for a family of 12, reported missing on Thursday 11 June. Police said their investigation is being carried out both nationally and internationally in an effort to trace the Bradford family of 3 adults and 9 children.

New Police Inquiry Into Hillsborough Disaster To Launch
The Home Secretary has announced a new police inquiry into the Hillsborough disaster, as the Attorney General urged the High Court to quash the inquest verdicts on the 96 victims. The new investigation will be headed by former Durham Chief Constable Jon Stoddart and will re-examine what happened in 1989.
