Scottish Conservatives To Launch An EU In-Out Manifesto
The leader of the Scottish Conservatives Ruth Davidson has said a vote for them was a vote to support reform in Europe and reaffirmed backing an in-out referendum on the EU in the party's 2014 European election manifesto.
Ms Davidson promised an in-out referendum on EU membership in 2017 if they remain in power at Westminster and said her party is the only one in the current election that is acting according to the wishes of the Scottish people.
She said: "The evidence shows that nearly 60% of Scots want a referendum. That's exactly what the Scottish Conservatives, within the UK, can deliver. As part of the UK, Scotland can be part of a new deal that renews our relationship with Europe."
Despite this, the Scottish Conservative leader said she wanted Scotland and the UK to remain in the EU. She explained the party would appear on the ballot paper as: 'Scottish Conservatives- No to Independence'.
