Murdered teen was 'not sexually assaulted'

Following a post mortem examination on murdered Scottish teenager Jodi Jones, police have said that she was not sexually assaulted.

The body of 14-year-old Jodi was found by family members in a wooded area near to a path running between the rear of Newbattle High School and Newbattle Road, in Dalkeith, southern Scotland, just before midnight on Monday night.

The post mortem revealed that she had been attacked with a "knife or similar weapon".

Detectives are trying to establish a motive for the murder and have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

The teenager was last seen when she left home at about 5:30pm on Monday evening to go to her boyfriend's house.

Three Arrested In Connection With Murdered Teenager
Police investigating the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old in Liverpool on Saturday have arrested two men and a woman. Teenager Kevin Wilson was shot in the back in Wavertree on Saturday, in what police described as a "targeted attack". Police have arrested a 54-year-old man from Toxteth, and a man and woman from Kensington, both aged 37.

Police review Jodi Jones murder probe
An independent team will today begin a review of police investigation into the murder of Scottish teenager Jodi Jones. Fourteen-year-old Jodi's body was found on June 30 in a wooded area near Dalkeith. She had been killed in a "frenzied and vicious attack".

Man charged over racist website messages
A man has been charged for posting racist messages on a website set up for murdered teenager Anthony Walker. Neil Martin, 29, from Maghull, Merseyside, has been charged with racially-aggravated harassment and stirring up racial hatred. He will appear before Knowsley Magistrates' Court on May 9.

A 23-year-old man has been found guilty of the murder of a 16-year-old girl in Blackpool. Teenager Sasha Marsden was stabbed 58 times and set on fire in what Lancashire Police described as "one of the most horrific cases" they had encountered.

Man Arrested Over Golf Club Burnt Body Find
A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a man whose badly burnt body was found on a Brighton golf course. The body of Stefan Welch, 37, was found between the 17th and 18th holes at the Dyke Golf club on Saturday. A post-mortem revealed that he probably died from a blow to the head.
