London's Gherkin Tower In Receivership

The famous Gherkin skyscraper in London has been placed into receivership.

According to reports, the move comes after one of the building's owners was placed in insolvency.

IVG Immobilien co-owns the 40-storey structure with private equity firms Evans Randall, and it was the former that filed for insolvency in 2013.

It is understood that Evans Randall wished to purchase a larger stake in the tower, but was unable to agree a new ownership agreement with IVG.

Deloitte has been appointed as receiver.
