MP Nigel Evans Cleared Of Assault

Nigel Evans, the former deputy speaker of the House of Commons has been cleared of a string of sex abuse charges.

The decision was unanimously made by a jury following a five-week trial at Preston Crown Court.

Mr Evans was found not guilty of one count of rape, five sexual assaults, one attempted sexual assault and two indecent assaults.

He broke down and cried when the verdicts were announced.

Speaking outside the court, he said he had been through "11 months of hell" and that "nothing will ever be the same again."

Nigel Evans Rearrested For Indecent Assault
Nigel Evans, the House of Commons Deputy Speaker, has been arrested on suspicion of indecent assault and sexual touching of two further alleged victims. The 55-year-old had previously been arrested by Lancashire Police on suspicion of rape, sexual assault and three indecent assaults.

Former DJ Guilty Of Rape And Indecently Assaulting Young Girls
Former DJ Ray Teret, a friend of Jimmy Savile, has been found guilty of raping and indecently assaulting young girls. Teret, from Altrincham, was convicted of seven counts of rape and 11 counts of indecent assault throughout the 1960s and 1970s.
