Tony Benn's Funeral Gathers Crowds

Crowds gathered at Westminster today to attend the funeral of Tony Benn.

He died earlier this month at the age of 88.

The funeral took place in Westminster, yards away from the House of Commons and was surrounded by crowds who gathered close to the Palace to pay their last respects to the politician.

Banner-wielding trade unionists, anti-war campaigners and other well-wishers burst into applause as the funeral cortege arrived at St Margaret's Church. A procession was led by the chaplain to the Commons Speaker, the Reverend Rose Hudson-Wilkin.

A private family cremation followed the funeral and a memorial meeting will be held later this year.
