Petrol Prices At Three-Year Low

Petrol prices have fallen to their lowest in three years with the cheaper fuel sold in Yorkshire and the Humber, according the Automobile Association (AA).

The national average for petrol is nearly nine pence cheaper than this time last year when in mid-March it was priced at 138.42p per litre a 6.47% more that now which is 129.46p per litre

The AA also expects another fall of up to 2p soon.

Diesel prices averaged 136.59p a litre, their lowest from nearly two years.

Chancellor George Osborne also announced another fuel duty freeze while eleven EU countries have increased or will increase the fuel tax this year.

London and the West Midlands are the cheapest areas for diesel at 136.3p a litre and Scotland is the most expensive at 137.3p.

However, the AA said there had been a small rise in the number of petrol stations in the UK after years of declining availability.
