Royal Navy Survey Ship To Join MH370 Search

A Royal Navy coastal survey ship is being sent to join in the search for missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370.

HMS Echo is to make its way from Perth and travel some 1,550 miles to the search site. The journey is expected to take several days.

Contact was lost with flight MH370 on 08 March about an hour after it left Kuala Lumpur bound for Beijing.

There was 239 people onboard.

The exact role HMS Echo will play in the search operations is not yet known, with a Downing Street spokesperson saying: "We stay in close touch with the Malaysian authorities and if there's more to do that the British government can do then we will, of course, look upon that very constructively."
