Bulger's Mother Receives Abuse On Twitter

Denise Fergus, the mother of toddler James Bulger, who was killed in 1993 has been subjected to abuse on Twitter about her son's murder.

Users of the site reacted furiously over a chain of tweets that were sent from an account named Jon Venables, which uses the username @SirVenables. It has now been disabled.

While Mrs Fergus wrote on her own account: "Here we go again, I'm not interested... #TickTock."

Jon Venables and Robert Thompson were convicted of the murder and given life sentences in November 1993.

The pair were released and given new identities in June 2001, but Venables was jailed again in 2010 for downloading images of child abuse.

Last year he was released again with another new identity.

Merseyside Police said it was investigating the offensive tweets.
