11 Arrested After Two People Jump From Stena Ferry
An investigation into two people missing from a ferry has led to the arrest of 11 people in the Netherlands.
The Stena Britannica, sailing from Harwich to the Hook of Holland, reported on Thursday morning that two passengers were missing, and were thought to have jumped overboard.
It has since been reported that the missing people are thought to be two Albanians who were being deported from the UK.
A search operation was launched but was stood down at 13:30. There was no trace of the missing pair.
The ferry was later cleared to continue its journey, however, Dutch Police arrested 11 passengers as they disembarked the ferry in Holland.
Dutch Police arrested nine Albanians and two Vietnamese nationals are being questioned as part of an inquiry into "human smuggling".
It is understood that the group had been found inside a freight vehicle when it landed in the UK from Holland. There were being deported on the return ferry.
The investigation is ongoing.
