ONS Figures Reveal Rise In Net Migration

New figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) have revealed that net migration to the UK has risen to 212,000 as of September 2013.

The ONS report showed a net flow increase of 154,000 in the year to September. Net flow is measured by subtracting the number of people leaving the UK from the number of people arriving.

The numbers are moving further away from government set target of 100,000 by 2015.

According to the ONS, the growth is thought to be driven by European Union citizens moving into the UK, with an increase in arrivals from Poland, Spain, Italy and Portugal.

The full figures are available on the ONS website.
