Flood Hit To Be Exempt From Council Tax
Downing Street has announced that anyone who was forced to leave their home because of flooding will be exempt from council tax.
A fund of £4m will made available to local authorities to cover the cost of the unpaid council tax.
Over 6,000 homes across the UK suffered flooding following heavy and persistent rainfall and storms. The Prime Minister David Cameron has reassured those affected that "money is no object" when it comes to the clean-up operation.
Mr Cameron posted his confirmation of the council tax exemption to his Twitter account: "I can confirm we will fund councils that give council tax rebates to people whose homes have been flooded."
