Queen Hosts Film Stars At Palace

The Queen, who is the patron of the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (Rada) has welcomed Hollywood stars and film-makers to a celebration of drama to Buckingham Palace.

Her Majesty revealed to 12 Years A Slave director, Steve McQueen, where she keeps her own honorary Bafta, saying: "I couldn't help but look at mine, which I keep on the television".

Helen Mirren, best known for portraying the Queen on both screen and stage and fresh for receiving an honorary Bafta fellowship, admitted to the Duchess of Cambridge that she was a little taken aback when Prince William referred to her as "granny" at the Bafta's ceremony.

"He called me granny," the actress told Kate, who in turn admitted that William had asked her whether the joke would be suitable.

Rada students joined actors for a performance in the Palace Ballroom with songs from the musical Oh! What A Lovely War.
