Shell To Sell North Sea Assets

Shell has announced that it will sell three of its North Sea assets in an effort to focus on other assets that have an opportunity for growth.

The company will sell its interests in the Anasuria floating production, storage and offloading installation along with its Nelson and Sean platforms.

The vice president of Upstream Shell UK and Ireland said that the company remained committed to its UK operations, adding that it would continue to invest in its operations that have a growth potential.

Shell staff where informed of the sales earlier this week.

UK Interest Rates To Remain At 0.5%
The Bank of England's Monetary Policy Committee has announced it will kept interest rates on hold at 0.5%, for the second month in a row. The news came as the MPC decided to go ahead with pumping £50 billion of new money as part of its quantitative easing on the economy.

The closure of a mortgage processing centre and the streamlining of sales representatives, who deal with brokers, is set to result in 370 job losses.

Shell announce 2,800 technology job cuts
Royal Dutch Shell have announced that it is to cut 2,800 jobs in its technology division over the next three years. The world’s third largest oil firm said that the job losses were unrelated to the firm’s recent problems over how it accounted for its proven oil reserves. The division affected has sites in Britain, the Netherlands and the US.

Shell Wants Scotland In The UK
Ben van Beurden, the Chief Executive of the oil company Shell has said he would like Scotland to remain part of the UK. In a meeting in London he said he valued the "continuity and stability: of the UK and affirmed that the company had studied the possibilities and reached the conclusion, which was supported in the UK and UE.

Oil Tanker Strike Fuels Shortage Fears
Hundreds of oil tanker drivers have gone on strike in a row over pay. The strike which will affect around one in 10 of Britain's petrol stations, has raised fears that there will be petrol shortages over the weekend. Union leaders have predicted that supplies could run out within 24 hours of the strike beginning.
