'No-One To Blame' For Missing Megan Roberts
The mother of Megan Roberts, the student who disappeared on 23rd January, has said that the passing of her daughter appears to be the result of "a tragic run of events with no one to blame".
Miss Roberts, 20, from Wetherby, West Yorkshire, who was studying at York St John University, was last seen after a night out with her friends in York but was reported missing by her mother on 27th January after a friend realised she had not been seen since the previous Thursday.
According to the BBC, the student was seen on CCTV at 02:20 GMT with a group of people near Lendal Bridge. Police have been searching the River Ouse.
According to North Yorkshire Police, Megan Roberts entered the River Ouse having been "affected by alcohol". In a message on Facebook, Jackie Roberts, the young girl's mother said that she remains "hopeful".
She said: "We have been given as much information as the police can give us and all evidence does point towards this being a tragic run of events with no one to blame."
Moreover, Mrs Roberts said: "Until we know for certain, we all have hope, but whatever the outcome, we are all carrying Megan in our hearts.
"This is a very difficult time and, as a family we will always be thankful for everyone's love and support and caring thoughts for my beautiful daughter."
