Supreme Court Rejects Final HS2 Legal Challenge

A legal bid calling for more scrutiny of the government's plans for the HS2 national high-speed rail link has been rejected by the Supreme Court.

The court unanimously rejected the challenged, which had questioned whether the government had followed the rules on environmental impact when assessing the plans for HS2.

It is understood that this marks the end of legal challenges against the high-speed rail link, as the BBC have reported that there is no right of appeal to Europe.

However, the challenges to date have focus on phase one of the plan so further legal bids could be made against phase two, when its route is announced.
