Rolls-Royce To Cut Two Hundred Jobs

Two hundred jobs are to be cut at the Rolls-Royce aerospace plant in Renfrewshire.

The company blamed challenging marketing conditions for the job cuts when it told staff on Thursday of the cuts.

Some work as already been transferred out of the plant while the company reviews its supply chain.

The Unite union has called for urgent talks with management.

Steel Plant To Cut Up To 500 Jobs
Tata Steel are to cut up to 500 jobs from their plants in Scunthorpe, Workington and Teesside, the company has announced. Announcing the cuts, the company said that management and administrative roles would be affected. With 340 jobs in Scunthorpe at risk, along with 90 in Workington and 40 in Teesside.

Severn Trent Water in Coventry have announced it is to cut 500 jobs. The company said that following the merger of its sewerage and water supply divisions it is reducing its management and support departments.

British Gas To Cut 6,000 Jobs
British Gas owner Centrica has announced it is to cut 6,000 jobs by 2020. The announcement comes as the group reports a doubling of profits at the British Gas business in the first six months of 2015. In its annual Interim Results report, the company said half the jobs lost would be through redundancies.
