Flood Warnings Remain In Place

A number of flood warnings remain in place across the UK today as further heavy rain is expected.

The south and south-east of England, as well as Wales are thought to be the worst affected areas.

Three severe flood warnings have been issued for Dorset, with more than 100 lower-level warnings given for across England and Wales.

Scotland has also been issued with flood warnings, but none are said to be rated severe.

Weather warnings were initially issued for much of the UK on Monday morning but a majority of these have now been lifted.

The Met Office has said a "yellow" warning will remain for southern and south-east England as "heavy showers, some of them combined with hail and thunder" hit the regions.

The warnings are expected to last until 6am on Wednesday.
