Norfolk Cliff Top Bungalow To Be Demolished

A house left hanging over a cliff edge after last week's tidal surge in Norfolk will be demolished.

Last Thursday, a severe tidal surge caused massive coastal erosion, something which is not expected for another 20 years.

The erosion left the cliff top bungalow sticking out over the edge of the cliff.

The house was the last one left on the cliff top, with all other homes claimed by coastal erosion.

Colwyn Bay Pier To Be Demolished

Councillors have decided to demolish Colwyn Bay pier, bringing five years of uncertainty to an end.

A report commissioned to investigate the feasibility of restoring the pier found that it would cost some £15m to restore the Grade II-listed structure.

Jury Told To Ignore PM Comments

A jury has been told to ignore comments made by the Prime Minister about Nigella Lawson.

The jury are sitting in the fraud trial of two former personal assistants to Nigellla and Charles Saatchi.

It is understood that the jury has now been told to ignore comments made by David Cameron in an interview which could be viewed as "favourable to Ms Lawson".

Cornwall Hotel Fire Suspect Released
A 21-year-old man arrested this week on suspicion of the murder of three people in a hotel blaze in Cornwall has been released on bail. Two men, aged 44 and 21, were arrested on Wednesday in connection with the fire at the Penhallow Hotel in Newquay on August 18 last year. The older man remains in custody.

Two Arrested Over Cornwall Hotel Fire Deaths
Police investigating a fatal hotel blaze in Cornwall in which three people died have arrested two men. The men, aged 44 and 21, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and have been taken to a police station in Cornwall for questioning. The fire broke out at the Penhallow Hotel in Newquay on August 18 last year.

Canoe Man 'Cried And Begged' To Come Home
The wife of 'back-from-the-dead' canoeist John Darwin has told Teesside Crown Court that he had cried and begged her to let him come home after staging his own death. Anne Darwin, 56, faces six charges of deception and nine charges of money laundering linked to insurance payments, in connection with her husband's disappearance.

Jury Duty Opened To Senior Citizens
People over the age of 65 will be eligible to take part in jury service from tomorrow as key changes to modernise Scots law come into force. Since 1980, an upper age limit for jury duty has been imposed in Scotland which has prohibited those over the age of 65 from serving.
