Tesco Bank To Create 300 Jobs

Tesco Bank has said it will create 300 new jobs in Glasgow and Edinburgh.

The jobs announcement comes as it prepares to launch a current account in 2014.

The majority of the roles will form part of a new team responsible for serving current account customers. It has started to recruit for 240 customer service positions, while there are also plans to create an additional 58 head office posts, including in marketing and legal services.

The positions are permanent with a majority being full-time.

The roles will be split between the bank's main offices in Scotland - Tesco Bank, South Gyle Crescent, Edinburgh and Broadway One, Renfield Street Glasgow.

In a statement, Tesco Bank said it will offer a competitive basic salary and pension scheme.

Benny Higgins, Chief Executive of Tesco Bank, said: "Since 2008, we have invested to build a bank for Tesco customers. We now have more than 6.8 million accounts and offer straightforward, transparent products which reward loyalty and provide great value.

"We are making excellent progress towards the launch of our current account next year and the recruitment of these new roles is an important milestone in that process."
