GSK Announce £25m Scottish Expansion

Pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) has said it is to expand its operations in Montrose, Angus, Scotland.

GSK are to invest some £25m into the expansion and create 25 new jobs, bringing the company's total workforce in Scotland to more than 750.

GSK also say an additional 50 contractors are expected to be employed during the construction phase of the expansion.

The new state-of-the-art facilities and equipment will allow the firm to bring the production of the ingredients for four new pharmaceutical products to Montrose.

Parliament Roof Protest Ends
A protest on the roof of Parliament over Heathrow expansion plans has ended. A number of protestors breached security at the Houses of Parliament and climbed on to the roof, next to Big Ben, on Wednesday morning. The activists, who were protesting about expansion plans at Heathrow Airport, unfurled banners, one of which read 'No 3rd Runway'.

British drugs giant GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) has confirmed that a formal criminal investigation has been launched by Britain's Serious Fraud Office (SFO) over alleged bribery in its business practices.

OFT Accuse GSK Of 'Market Abuse'
The Office of Fair Trading (OFT) has accused pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) of market "abuse". It is alleged that GSK paid rivals to delay releasing their own versions of its product, Seroxat. The OFT claim that Alpharma, Generics UK and Norton Healthcare all received money not to enter the market with their copies of Seroxat.

GSK Changes Sales Policies
Pharmaceuticals firm GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) is to stop paying doctors to promote its products and will end individual targets for its sales force. According to reports it is believed these changes are related to a corruption scandal in China earlier this year.
