Woman Convicted After Tweeting About Hitting Cyclist

A 22-year-old woman has been fined and issued seven penalty points after she tweeted about knocking a cyclist off his bike.

Emma Way, of Watton, was found guilty of failure to stop after an accident and failure to report the incident in which she knocked cyclist Toby Hockley off his bike in Norfolk in May.

Following the incident Miss Way posted to Twitter: "Definitely knocked a cyclist off his bike earlier. I have right of way - he doesn't even pay road tax! #Bloodycyclists."

At Norwich magistrates she was convicted of the two charges and was fined £337, alongside being ordered to pay £300 in costs and given seven points on her licence.

She was acquitted of driving without due care and attention.
