Man Dies After Being Hit By Train Following Police Chase

A man being pursued by police has been killed by a train in north-west London.

According to the Metropolitan Police a man aged in his 20s was stopped in Christchurch Avenue, Willesden Green at around 16:25 on Tuesday afternoon, believing that he had drugs in his possession.

The man then fled police, who "pursued and observed" the man for around 40 minutes.

The police say that the man, who has been identified, was hit by a train at 17:12 near Dartmouth Road, Willesden. He died at the scene.

It is understood that the Independent Police Complaints Commission are investigating the incident.

British Man Dies In Dubai Police Custody
A British man has died in police custody in Dubai. Lee Bradley Brown, 39, from east London, died on Tuesday after he was taken to a Dubai police station where he was allegedly assaulted and put into a cell. It has been reported that Mr Brown, was arrested over a row at the luxury hotel Burj Al Arab hotel.

Man Arrested Over Kent Doctor's Murder
A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a doctor in Kent. Consultant paediatrician Dr Victoria Anyetei, 54, was found in her car in the driveway of her home in Dartford on August 14. She had been stabbed to death. Kent Police said that the man was arrested on suspicion of murder at an address in Dartford.

Great Train Robber Released
Ronnie Biggs has been formally released from prison today on compassionate grounds. Justice Secretary Jack Straw yesterday approved the Great Train Robber's release. Biggs - who turns 80 tomorrow - is severely ill with pneumonia was told he is unlikely to recover.

Two 'bomb suspects' arrested
Two suspects in last week's attempted bomb attacks in London have been arrested after armed police surrounded two properities in London. It is believed that the two suspects are responsible for the attemped bombings of a Tube train between Oval Street and Stockwell stations and the Number 26 bus in Hackney last week.

Man Arrested For 2002 Murder Of Becky Godden
Police investigating the disappearance of Becky Godden on December 2002, have arrested a 51-year-old man on suspicion of murder. Ms Godden was aged 20 when she disappeared in Swindon on 27 December. Her remains were found in 2011 on farmland in Gloucestershire.
