CCTV Images Released In Connection With Ilford Murder
Detectives investigating the murder of Mariana Popa in Ilford have released three images of a man they wish to trace.
The CCTV images, captured in the local area before and after the time of the attack, show a man who officers believe may hold crucial information about the killing.
He is described as dark skinned, with a full beard, wearing a light baggy top with a satchel across his chest. He may have been wearing a hat or cap at the time of the offence.
Detective Chief Inspector Sheila Stewart, of the Homicide and Major Crime Command (HMCC), said: "It is vital we track down this man who was in the precise area at the time Mariana was attacked and killed.
"I would urge anyone with information about this man, or any other aspect of the investigation, to get in touch with us as soon as possible. All calls will be treated with the utmost confidence. Alternatively, to remain anonymous, members of the public can also talk to Crimestoppers."
Mariana Popa, 24, a Romanian national, was attacked on the early hours of Tuesday, 29 October.
A murder investigation was launched when police were called by London Ambulance Service at approx 12.15am on Tuesday, 29 October, to reports of a woman injured in Ilford Lane, near the junction with Loxford Lane.
Officers attended and she was treated for a stab injury. She was taken to an east London hospital where she died at 1.53am.
Next of kin have been informed and formal identification has taken place.

Police seek witnesses in teenager murder case
Police investigating the murder of a teenager in Kent have released CCTV images of potential witnesses to the attack. Christopher Alaneme, 18, was stabbed in Sheerness High Street on April 21 and died later in hospital. Christopher, who was black, was found after police were called to the area following reports of a disturbance.

Suspected London bomber to be returned to UK
A British man wanted for questioning in connection with the failed London bomb attacks on July 21 is to be extradited to the UK within 35 days, an Italian court has ruled. Osman Hussein (27) will appeal the decision to the Italian Supreme court, according to his lawyers.

An illegal immigrant has been jailed for life for murdering a Romanian man in Manchester. Haroon Ahmed Niged, 27, of Stockport Road, Longsite, pleaded guilty at Manchester Crown Court to murdering Marian-ion Matei. Niged was jailed for life and ordered to serve a minimum sentence of 14 years.
