Man Jailed Over Wedding Venue Bomb Threat

A man has been jailed for 12 months over a hoax bomb threat he made to a wedding venue to try and cover up for forgetting to confirm his booking.

36-year-old Neil McArdle, of Melbourne Crescent, Liverpool, was due to be married at Liverpool Register Office in St George's Hall in April.

However, the day before the wedding, McArdle realised he had forgotten to confirm his booking with the registry office.

Liverpool Crown Court heard that rather than tell his partner of the mistake, McArdle waited until the day of his planned wedding to call in a bomb threat to St George's Hall.

The wedding party subsequently arrived at the venue to find an evacuation in progress.

However, once the threat was declared a hoax, Amy Williams, McArdle's fiancee, spoke to the venue only to be told that he wedding had never been booked in.
