Strike Action Cancelled As Talks End

Industrial action planned to take place at the Grangemount oil refinery and petrochemical plant has been called off, the Unite union has announced.

It is understood that the union held overnight talks with site operator Ineos, which lead to suspension of the planned strike action.

However, Unite have claimed that after 16 hours of talks, Ineos "walked away", leading the union to cancel the action "to protect the facility from its owner's scandalous behaviour".

The dispute between workers and operators of the refinery is understood to be centred on the treatment of union convenor Stephen Deans.
