Post Office Workers' Industrial Action To Continue
In an ongoing dispute over pay and franchise plans, Post Office staff have vowed to continue their strike action.
Next week, they will hold their 12th strike since Easter.
Some 4,000 staff at 372 Crown offices – larger post offices in city centres – have said they will continue to strike over proposals to sell one fifth of the offices into franchised outlets in supermarkets and newsagents.
Representing the Post Office staff, the Communication Workers Union (CWU), say that the proposed franchise plan will put some 1,500 jobs at risk.
This claim has been rejected by the Post Office, who say that there would be no compulsory redundancies.
Concerns have been raised that the ongoing industrial action could continue through the Christmas period, the Post Office's busiest time.
