Man Arrested Over Michael Le Vell Abuse Case Tweet

Greater Manchester Police have arrested a man on suspicion of tweeting the identity of the woman accusing Coronation Street actor Michael Le Vell of rape.

It is understood the man was arrested in the Gloucester area and is 43-years-old.

He is alleged to have tweeted about the ongoing trial of the actor, revealing the identity of his accuser.

Defendants in sex abuse cases are automatically granted anonymity.

Police highlighted that people using social media are bound by the same laws governing mainstream media in regards to a victim's anonymity.

Wanted Man Arrested In London
The man wanted in connection with the murder of a 66-year-old man who intervened during a robbery, has been arrested. Ian John McLoughlin, 55, was arrested in London at around 01:00. He was wanted on suspicion of murder and robbery. Airports and ports had been put on alert as police hinted for McLoughlin.

Hugh Grant has been arrested over an allegation that he attacked a photographer by throwing a tub of baked beans at him. The 46-year-old actor is understood to have voluntarily attended Notting Hill police station on Wednesday where he was arrested and questioned for an hour.

Teenager Arrested Over Rape Of 12-Year-Old Girl
A 17-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the rape of 12-year-old girl in east London. Three males lead the girl to a "secluded" end of a street in Walthamstow at around 00:15 on Saturday before two of them attacked her, held her down and raped her.

Police pay details stolen
Burglars have stolen three laptop computers containing payroll details for Metropolitan Police staff, Scotland Yard has confirmed. The computers were stolen from the offices of LogicaCMG, which is responsible for the force's pay and pension services, in Southwark Street last Thursday evening.

Man Spared Jailed Over Venables Picture Tweet
A 27-year-old man has been given a suspended sentence for tweeting an image purporting to be an adult Jon Venables, one of the men jailed for the murder of James Bulger. The High Court in London gave James Baines, from Liverpool, to a 14-month suspended sentence, after he admitted contempt of court.
