Blair set to visit Gulf region

It has been announced that Tony Blair will visit Kuwait tomorrow – the first time the prime minister has gone to the Gulf region since the war against Iraq.

Mr Blair will fly into Kuwait for a two-day visit which will include meetings with emir Sheikh Jaber Al Ahmed Al Sabah – the Arab state's deputy prime minister.

The meeting represents the beginning of a round of shuttle diplomacy for the prime minister. He is also expected to move on to Poland and Russia later this week, before moving on to the G8 summit in Evian, France.
