Body Recovered In Australia Believed To Be Missing Briton

Authorities in Australia searching for a missing British man have found a body while searching in bushland in the Blue Mountains region.

23-year-old Gary Tweddle, a computer salesman from Reading, was last seen in July when he attended a business conference in Leura, west of Sydney.

According to reports, New South Wales police have recovered a body that had been spotted by an ambulance rescue helicopter while on a training exercise on a cliff edge.

Mr Tweddle went missing following a work dinner at the conference. In the early hours of July 17 he telephoned a colleague saying that he was lost in bushland.

Formal identification of the body is expected to take several days, but New South Police have said the believe the body to be that of Mr Tweddle.

Recovered Body Confirmed As Missing POlice Officer
Cumbria Police have confirmed that a body found on Tuesday was that of a missing police officer. Police searching for Detective Sergeant George Atkinson, recovered his body in the Cogra Moss area. Mr Atkinson was 46 years old from Springbank, Whitehaven. He was employed as a Detective Sergeant at Cumbria Constabulary, based in west Cumbria.

Body Recovered In Missing Canoeist Search
A body has been recovered by police in a search for a missing canoeist in Edinburgh. A major search operation was launched on Saturday evening for 29-year-old Darren Gilpin, when his boat capsized in the Killin area. Mr Gilpin and a second man had been out in the boat when the incident happened.

Man's Body Recovered From Clay Pit After Going Missing In 2007
Police in Cornwall have confirmed that a body recovered from a clay pit is that of Nicholas Prouse, who has been missing for more than six years. Mr Prouse went missing from his home in St Dennis on 30 November 2007.
