Govt Increase Age Limit Of Jury Duty
The Government has announced an increase in the age limit of jurors in England and Wales, from 70 to 75.
Currently jury's are made up of 18 to 70-year-olds, with some 178,000 people in England and Wales being called for service. Jury duty is compulsory but exceptions can be made to excuse people if they show good reason why they cannot serve.
The government claim that the current age limit does not take into account the increase in life expectancy, with the new move aimed at making the system more inclusive and reflective of modern society.
